Meet the Team

Anthony Finbow, CEO
Anthony Finbow joined Psytechnics as CEO in December 2005. Prior to joining Psytechnics he was Managing Director at MetaSolv Software Inc (Nasdaq), where he was responsible for operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Whilst at MetaSolv, Anthony increased the revenue contribution from European operations from 15% to 35% of global revenues and achieved annual profitable growth in excess of 20% for each year of his tenure.

From 2000 to 2003 he held a number of executive positions at Orchestream plc (LSE and Nasdaq), in particular, SVP Business Development, CFO and latterly CEO. During his tenure as CEO he turned around significantly loss making operations to achieve revenue growth and cash flow positive performance against the backdrop of extremely challenging industry fundamentals.

From 1994 to 2000 Anthony worked with WestLB and HypoVereinsbank in corporate finance, focusing on mergers & acquisitions, privatization and corporate restructuring.

He previously trained as a corporate lawyer with CMS Cameron McKenna after having spent his early career as an engineer (communications and electro-optics) with IBM, Rofin Sinar Laser and British Airways.

Anthony has completed the London Business School corporate finance programme and is a graduate of Downing College, Cambridge University (law) and Reading University (control engineering).

    

Paul Barrett, CTO
Paul Barrett joined Psytechnics in 2001. Paul has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and has been actively involved in international standardization for most of that time. Paul's standards work has encompassed many aspects of voice and video communications, including four generations of GSM and 3G codecs.

Paul is currently a Vice Chairman of the ITU Study Group responsible for "Performance, QoS and QoE" and is the UK Head of Delegation for this group.

Prior to joining Psytechnics, Paul led a variety of research projects at BT's research and development facility at Martlesham Heath. Paul is a Chartered Engineer, Member of the IET and IEEE, and holds a Masters Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering from York University.

    

Mark Hemmert , VP of Sales and Operations - The Americas
Mark Hemmert joined Psytechnics in November 2007. He is responsible for growing revenue in North and South America through the direct sales organization and partners. Mark served previously as Director of Voice Management Solutions at Computer Associates, where he grew a niche VoIP management offering into a global, top-tier focus for the company. Mark has a successful history over 20 years in telecommunications technology and software, and has built strategic partnerships with Cisco, Nortel, Avaya and Microsoft for many companies. Mark has held executive posts with young, fast-track players such as Vitel Software, eDial, and Outreach Technology as well as established technology providers, Fujitsu Ltd., Concord Communications and RCA.

    

Christopher O'Connor, CFO
Christopher joined Psytechnics in February 2006. He is a Chartered Accountant having trained and qualified at KPMG and has been Chief Financial Officer of a number of small to medium-sized high technology businesses. He has specific experience of raising money, selling businesses and working with many types of investor. Prior to joining Psytechnics he was Chief Financial Officer of Cambridge Broadband which in 2004 was the fastest growing technology company according to the Sunday Times. He was the Finance Director of Kapiti Limited at the time of its sale to Misys plc in 1994.

    

The Board
The executive director of Psytechnics is Anthony Finbow. The non-executive directors are Andy Garman (NVP), Elderd Land (GIMV) and Richard Marsh (Encore Ventures).

    
 

Andy Garman
Andy is Managing Partner of New Venture Partners LLC (“NVP”) based in New Jersey, USA. Andy focuses on NVP's Software and Services and Networking and Communications investment areas. He currently works with the following NVP portfolio companies: Andrew, Azure Solutions, E-Ink, Evolved Networks, iBiquity Digital, Intrado, Microwave Photonics, Psytechnics, Vidus and Watchmark.

Prior to joining Lucent, Andy was Managing Director of BT Ventures at Bankers Trust Company. There, he created and managed a portfolio of internally generated business-to-business e-commerce companies.

Andy previously was Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, of Xerox New Enterprises, where he helped grow Xerox's internal venture portfolio, primarily derived from innovations at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center , to three public and eight private companies. He was also a General Partner at CommTech International, an incubator and venture capital firm, in Menlo Park , California , with exclusive rights to commercialize the technology of SRI International.

Andy has been a founder, director, and/or early stage investor in numerous private and public companies, including Amati Communications, ColoRep, AcuPrint, Placeware, dpiX, InXight, Certco, Globeset, Document Forum, Aether Technologies, E-Ink, Visual Insights, Lucent Public Safety Systems (now Intrado), Celiant, and Watchmark.

Andy holds an engineering and applied physics degree from Harvard College, a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Stanford University, where he was named an Arjay Miller Scholar. He recently served as President of the Stanford Business School Alumni Association. Andy lives with his wife and two daughters in Summit, New Jersey.

    

Elderd Land
Elderd joined GIMV in 2000 as an Executive Investment Manager. Elderd has wide ranging international experience in deal making transactions as well as business development in the technology and communication sectors. Elderd holds board positions at CTS, Mediornet, Psytechnics and 3mensio. Prior to joining GIMV, Elderd worked at ABN AMRO Corporate Finance in charge of the telecom and internet sector teams in Amsterdam . Prior to that Elderd worked for KPN Telecom in International Business Development and for a construction company. Elderd holds a Masters in Business Administration from Erasmus University.

    

Richard Marsh
Richard is a Partner of Encore Ventures. He has spent his career in venture capital and as an entrepreneur, with a decade of operational experience in technology businesses. He was the founder and CEO of Datanomic, a successful software business backed by 3i.

He has invested in and worked with companies in software, hardware, mobile and cleantech sectors and now manages Encore's investments in Connectivity, Garlik, Intense, Polatis and Psytechnics.

Richard is an Engineering graduate of Cambridge University where he also received his PhD. Richard holds an MBA from IMD, Lausanne, where he was a Sainsbury Management Fellow.
